The market for CG 3D models has grown enormously in recent years

due to the rise in 3D catalogues which “facilitate the work of engineers,
architects, designers and other users of CAD programs as they
considerably shorten the time needed to draw and render a project”.

The increase in numbers of companies and their web presence has left

potential customers with a wealth of options from lower quality free

models to super-high quality, textured and rigged models costing

several thousand pounds.

Many existing sites provide a platform for artists to upload their own models

to the internet and sell them through the company’s website, often these sites

would demand a fifty percent share of the sales of the model simply for the

hosting and promotion of the models. Many of the more professional websites

have provided models for industry as well as personal projects, such as for film,

television and video games companies.

It is our ultimate aim to compete with these larger companies but in order to do that we have to start out small and this is why our initial market will be mostly students, hobbyists and those people requiring good quality 3D models at a lower price than is offered by many of our competitors. As mentioned we intend to promote repeat trade by offering many of our models for free or close to free. However to ensure that our business grows we will also offer more complex models for a more than reasonable fee for those customers who have a budget to work with.
